Nigel Brown

Born: 1949 Invercargill. 

Education: BFA, Elam School of Fine Arts 1968-71.

Nigel has been practicing as a full time artist since 1978 and became a member of the New Zealand Medallion Group in mid 1990s.
 In 2004 he was awarded the OZNM for services to painting and print making.

'I think if you look at my medallion work you'll see it evolve away from the foundry. This has been influenced by my move to a remote rural situation where some vernacular do it your self voice has been heard. It is also deeper than that again in wanting hand made one off organic rawness rather than industrial repeat editioning associated with manufacture. This is part of my questioning the society I live in, both in terms of values and its propaganda.'  Nigel Brown, 2015.
